Marina Martín's brief summary of the different Nature Protection Figures that apply in our country and in the rest of the world is clarifying. Marina asks several questions that we would not like to answer in this blog.
How can protection be compatible with rural development? Nobody knows how to protect the environment better than the rural environment, they have been doing so for centuries, we believe that it is only necessary to offer new tools to this environment to improve and consolidate that protection.
Why aren't space management plans being drawn up as required by current legislation? Lack of funding, we think it's just that.
Are protected area management plans really useful tools to guarantee conservation? Yes, and not only are they useful, they are essential.
How are management costs to be covered? Are there ways that actions do not depend exclusively on public budgets? We believe that the environment has resources that we do not exploit or have stopped exploiting and that they are a source of resources for their livelihood and especially are a source of employment.
Has the protection declaration been abused and is the surface to be managed uncontrollable? We believe that yes, and we have been seeing it every day, we see areas that should be preserved and are not, and others that have been preserved with “the theory of the big spot”
Are there any declared spaces that have regressed and deserve to lose their protective status? We don't know of any cases, but surely there will be, although we believe that this is not the best way to preserve it.
