World Environmental Education Day: Key to a Sustainable Future

La environmental education is an important transmitter of knowledge that covers all areas and levels of the environment. Not only does it provide us with information, but it also strengthens the creation of solid networks in society that promote the conservation of biodiversity and respect for our environment.

We take advantage of the World Environmental Education Day, held last Sunday, January 26, to highlight the commitment of Environmental Ideas with environmental awareness and training.

Throughout our history, we have developed various initiatives, such as workshops on biodiversity, recycling games and wildlife observation days, which reflect our commitment to participatory and transformative environmental education.

Knowledge and emotions: the engine of change

One of the key aspects of environmental education is its ability to transmit knowledge and generate thrills. Sometimes, those emotions generated during learning are what drive actions for change. While information can be forgotten over time, experiences and emotions endure, inspiring more conscious and responsible attitudes toward the environment.

In every action, no matter how small, we can create a positive change in our daily lives. These participatory processes allow us to integrate the environment into our daily lives, generating a closer relationship and fostering a critical spirit. Because, as they say, “what you don't know, you don't take care of”.

In Environmental Ideas, our goal is to bring people closer to the natural environment through activities that awaken their interest and commitment to the environment. For this reason, we are committed to expanding our services in the area of environmental education, developing materials and activities for companies and entities that wish to contribute transversally to sustainability.

Recent initiatives in environmental education

Throughout 2024, we have carried out several activities:

• Collaboration with Vidrala at the inauguration of their urban garden in Caudete (Albacete), where we organize workshops on composting and the life cycle of plants. It was an outdoor learning day, in which associations and schools participated, promoting inclusive environmental education.

• Participation in the VIII Albacete Ecology Fair, an ideal space to connect with initiatives, associations and families committed to a fairer, more local and sustainable lifestyle. We held a children's workshop on the construction of bird feeders with recycled materials, a talk about old roses from the province of Albacete and the intervention in the talk-colloquium on “The Law of Ecocide”.

• Conferences in Aýna, The first envelope ornithological tourism, with the objective of identifying the most common bird species that inhabit local hiking trails, and discovering their natural habitat. And, in addition, a route along nature trails with pets, ideal for promoting responsible coexistence in nature.

• Workshops on the common swift, valuing the species of our rural environments as allies in ecological balance.
• Series of workshops on sustainable fashion, Hand in hand with Captain Denim, which brings high school students closer to the awareness and practice of responsible consumption in the textile field, promoting sustainable and ethical habits in the choice, use and disposal of clothing.

• Environmental sports gymkhana Next to the Albacete Triathlon Club, in which we combine sport, fun and environmental awareness. Teams of boys and girls rotated through different “seasons” that promoted the importance of resources such as water, energy and biodiversity.
