Last Friday, May 12, 2017, we talked about bats to ornithologists, and a few weeks ago, the Albacete Ornithological Society kindly invited us to participate in his Naturalist Days 2017 The ones we went to with the paper Bats of Albacete: Get to know them What did our colleague teach Cristóbal Martínez Iniesta, biologist at Environmental Ideas.
In the talk, Cristóbal was able to talk about different topics related to bats in Albacete and Spain, describing General information about chiropterans (they are the only flying mammals and the second most diverse group of mammals in the world), their division into megachiroptera (daytime and large) and microchiroptera (nocturnal and small), the ones closest to us, etc.
Then he told us about their phenology, commented on their characteristic way of positioning themselves in space through sounds, the echolocation that is so striking in rhinolophus that they emit through the nose, their functions in nature, their way of feeding, their annual cycle, their form of migration, etc.
In a second part, he told us about the detection possibilities of bats, their threats and the possibilities of improving their habitats.
It only remains to thank the Albacete Ornithological Society your invitation to participate in these days and make our projects available to entities or groups Bats of Castilla-La Mancha to publicize these magnificent mammals, as well as to those organizations or companies that require studies on them.
