Given the high temperatures we are suffering from, it is worth remembering some basic tips to keep in mind:
• Drink water frequently
• Reduce the time or intensity of exposure to heat
• Avoid eating a lot, drinking alcohol, caffeinated drinks, or sugary drinks
• Adapt work rhythms to the heat tolerance of each worker
• Wear clothes made from fresh fabrics
• Protect your head from the sun
And if we notice symptoms of heat stroke in a partner such as:
• High indoor temperature
• Tachycardia
• Headache
• Confusion and seizures
We must:
• Notify 112
• Place the affected person in a cool, ventilated place
• Apply compresses wet in cold water
• To fan the affected person
Main preventive measures to be taken
- Limit heavy tasks that require high energy expenditure. If possible, for handling loads, provide mechanical aids that reduce the necessary effort.
- Plan the heaviest tasks during the least hot hours, adapting, if necessary, work schedules.
- Limit the time or intensity of exposure, doing task rotations whenever there are sites with lower exposure that allow it.
- Increase the frequency of recovery breaks
- Try to wear loose clothing, made of light fabric and light colors.
- Protect the head and neck (with neck cover)
- Avoid individual work, favoring teamwork to facilitate the mutual supervision of workers.
- Use sun creams
- Try to sleep well before working days with a forecast of high temperatures
- Observe and comply with the limits and regulations established by labor legislation.
