Los estudios han revelado que los rendimientos de la agricultura orgánica son más altos de lo que se pensaba.
The review of more than 100 comparative studies of both crops has revealed that yields from organic agriculture are higher than previously thought, moving in this direction is no longer an alternative; it is a necessity, say the authors of the work, from the University of California at Berkeley.
In Spain, organic agriculture is a growing sector, as in the entire European continent, where the extension of crops has already reached 1.5 million hectares.
According to data from the Spanish Association of Organic Agriculture (SAEA) published last November, in our country there are currently 1,610,129 hectares of land under organic production; and mMore than 33,700 farmers and ranchers practicing this type of agricultural production (almost a thousand more than in 2012).Andalusia is in the lead in this regard., with 50.10% of the surface, followed by Castilla-La Mancha and Catalonia.
The sector has therefore become an important economic reality in Spain, in which exports of organic products stand out, although not the domestic market, which is still insufficiently developed. For this reason, highlights the SAEA, it is necessary to promote the consumption of organic products, in the sector's action plans.
In any case, our country has practically doubled the amount of land dedicated to this type of cultivation in recent years, establishing itself as the second European country (after France) with the highest recorded increase in the area dedicated to organic cultivation.
