Today, Royal Decree 264/2017, of March 17, is published, which establishes the regulatory bases for the financing of the adaptation of high-voltage power lines to the requirements established in Royal Decree 1432/2008, of August 29, which establishes measures for the protection of avifauna against collision and electrocution in high-voltage power lines.

Who do they finance?

To individuals, individuals or legal entities, public or private, national or foreign, who own power lines.

Which power lines can be financed?

Those power lines that appear in the inventory of high-voltage overhead power lines that cause significant and proven mortality due to electrocution of birds included in the List of wild species under special protection, particularly those included in the Spanish Catalogue of Threatened Species, and in regional catalogues, an inventory to which the single transitory provision.3 of Royal Decree 1432/2008, of August 29, refers.

And those projects that contemplate structural correction actions for power lines that guarantee safety distances between conductive elements and comply with the technical requirements regulated in articles 6, 7 and 8 of Royal Decree 1432/2008, of August 29.

Priority will be given to projects involving power lines whose impact on the mortality of endangered species or other threatened species has been proven, as well as those projects that refer to power lines in which the electrocution of birds has caused a serious forest fire, according to the report issued by the competent administration, as well as lines that run in the territory of a National Park.
