On the occasion of the preparation of a Historic-Cultural Assessment Study of a Photovoltaic Solar Plant, in the least expected place we found a ferris wheel like the one we located in Alpera. The discovery, whose construction dates back to the beginning of the 20th century, corresponds to a ferris wheel for the generation of electrical energy that powers a water extraction pump for irrigation. This is an unusual finding, since it is difficult for them to be preserved intact, due to the reuse of their metal pieces and the interest it arouses among collectors, which has slowly meant that these fragments of industrial heritage have been diminishing in number and representation.
We have great examples of industrial architecture in the region of Castilla La Mancha, detailed in works such as “Industrial Landscapes of Castilla-La Mancha”, by Diego Peris Sánchez (Ed. Bubok, 2013), but we should not underestimate other small pieces of interest.
