In the crisis resulting from the coronavirus pandemic, many of the virtues of teleworking have been highlighted. Thanks to him, many companies like ours, have been able to continue their activities relatively normally without neglecting the necessary family reconciliation. In addition, and as we described in the post?We can get something positive out of the coronavirus? there are also environmental benefits mainly due to avoided trips to the workplace.

It is clear that not all people can telework (such as the healthcare and supermarket staff we applaud from here), but technological advances and changes in the labor market allow many people to do so. In many cases they only need a computer and an internet connection. And positions to choose from. Where will we locate our workplace?

An attractive candidacy is represented by the rural world, the so-called “emptied Spain”. From a natural environment and at very affordable prices, we can organize our workplace either as a salaried employee or, why not, as an eco-entrepreneur. The fact is that our peoples offer opportunities, for example, related to renewable energy or water management, and that can be financed through European funds that do not seem to run out.

In This video you can see an example in Castile and León and in Castilla-La Mancha, the Castellano-Manchegan Rural Development Network (Recamder) provides resources to entrepreneurs who want to promote rural development projects.

Leaving behind traffic jams and pollution and enjoying the benefits of living in the countryside while fighting rural depopulation and climate change sounds great, right? And if you are a company and you are considering offering the possibility to your staff, here are more advantages:

  • Teleworking is associated with higher productivity, sometimes around 15%.
  • Talent is built up and therefore excessive rotations are avoided.
  • The costs associated with the workplace are reduced.

Obviously not everything is rosy, but in a country where personalism is still so entrenched and in the circumstances in which we are, we wanted to highlight in this publication the benefits of teleworking. We leave the difficulties for another time.?
