The Cucos are constructive elements that emerged from the 19th century as a need for refuge of peasants in unprotected agricultural areas, and are also a clear symbol of their possession and personal effort.
When the peasant was faced with the need to clean his property to improve it, removing the stone, hauling it and storing it on the borders were the tasks first addressed. That stone was the impoverishing element of his property; an annoying presence later when it was placed outside the field and finally, an element of waste. However, following the basic laws of resource use, this piled stone is used to meet specific needs and thus, for convenience and effectiveness, it was transformed into construction material.
