Last week, pleasant memories came to our minds following a field visit that led us to the passage of Cañada Real de Pozo Rubio close to the city of Albacete. This livestock route had some magnificent specimens of pine and oak trees that already exceeded two or three meters in height, and great satisfaction flooded us when we remembered that these fine trees had now been planted by us more than fourteen years ago when Environmental Ideas was not even in our imagination.

And the question is why did we plant those trees? and this is when the “Cebolleta grandparents” begin to tell their story, a story that few know (except the closest ones) and that we want to share with you.

After several years actively participating in a youth volunteer association (Social Action Volunteering, V.A.S.), three young people decide to bet on environmental volunteering that is now so fashionable (then not). With this, they created the ECO2000 Project, which aimed to carry out various tasks to improve the natural environment in various towns in the province of Albacete, such as Ayna, Motilleja, Tobarra,... and among which was the aforementioned Cañada Real de Pozo Rubio, where, as in the rest of the areas, the cleaning of the area and the removal of waste, as well as the planting of native species, were carried out. Environmental awareness work was carried out across the board among volunteers. Thanks to the success of the project, it lasted until 2002 and was awarded (by the old Caja de Castilla La Mancha) with the “Green Spirit” award, and as they say that “an image is worth a thousand words”, here is an extensive report taken from the trunk of memories.

The great reading of this post is knowing that we are not the only ones or the first, since we are very fortunate to have in our human team and network of collaborators and friends people who have always been committed to the environment and to our cultural heritage, a commitment that goes beyond their profession and that is rather a vocation and way of living.

Noise isn't good, but good doesn't make noise

On International Noise Awareness Day, we remember that reducing acoustic impact is key to protecting our health and biodiversity: you don't always have to make noise to get noticed, you just need to find the right sound.
